Getting Started

Do I need an account to play?

No! You can play without creating an account. But if you want to track your progress, earn badges, and appear on the leaderboard, you can create a free account with just a username and 4-digit PIN.

How do I create an account?

Click 'Sign In' in the top right corner, then 'Create an account'. Choose a username and a 4-digit PIN — that's it. No email required.

I forgot my PIN. How do I reset it?

Since we don't collect email addresses, there's no automated password reset. Please contact us at [email protected] and we'll help you out.

Gameplay

How does the 5-minute game work?

Choose your grid setup, then fill in the multiplication grid before the 5-minute timer runs out. Click any cell, type your answer, and use Tab, Enter, or arrow keys to navigate. Results are shown when time's up or you hit Submit.

What's the difference between Play and Practice?

Play is the 5-minute grid game — fill a full multiplication grid against the clock. Practice mode lets you drill a single times table one question at a time, either timed (1-10 minutes) or untimed.

Can I pause a game?

No — just like the paper version, the timer keeps running. This is part of the challenge! If you need to stop, you can hit Submit to end early.

What grid sizes are available?

Grids range from 3×3 (9 cells) up to 16×16 (256 cells). Smaller grids are great for beginners, larger ones for a serious challenge.

Progress & Levels

How do levels work?

There are 8 rank tiers (Bronze through Mythic) with 3 sub-levels each, totalling 24 levels. You progress by mastering more times tables (90%+ accuracy with 25+ attempts) and playing qualifying games (75%+ accuracy).

Why didn't my game count toward my level?

Games need at least 75% accuracy to count as qualifying games for level progression. This prevents spamming easy games to level up. Your proficiency is always updated though, regardless of accuracy.

What's the proficiency heatmap?

It's a colour-coded grid showing how well you know each times table combination. Green means mastered, yellow means improving, red means needs work, and grey means not yet practiced. Hover over any cell for details.

Badges

How do I earn badges?

Badges are awarded automatically after each game based on your performance. There are 57 badges across 9 categories including accuracy, dedication, times table mastery, and more.

Why can't I earn certain badges on small grids?

Some badges require a minimum grid size (5×5 for completion badges, 7×7 for speed badges) to ensure they represent a genuine challenge.

Safety & Privacy

Is this safe for my child?

Yes. There are no ads, no chat or messaging, no social features, and no personal data collected beyond a username and PIN. See our privacy policy for full details.

What data do you collect?

Only a chosen username, a hashed 4-digit PIN, and game/proficiency data. No email, no real name, no location, no tracking cookies. See our full privacy policy.
